66th Annual Stowe Historical Society meeting

The Stowe Historical Society held their 66th Annual Meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15th 2022 at the Stowe Historical Society Museum. This year's special program was Energizing Moscow Mill with guest speaker Michael Lazorchak, Project Manager for the Hydro Plant Restoration at the Moscow Mill. He presented the history of the Mill and outlined the current project to restore the damaged hydro plant back to working condition.

More than 30 people attended the meeting and voted in the Museum's Officers for one-year terms (Barbara Baraw, Tom Hamilton, Jon Hanson, Wendy Parrish) and Directors for three-year terms (Lynn Baumrind, Ruth Hamilton, Liz Lackey). Jon Hanson presented this year's Financial Report.

For the upcoming year four new Museum exhibits were introduced:

  1. “Covered Bridges of Stowe” (especially Emily’s Bridge in Stowe Hollow);

  2. “Roadside History Markers in Lamoille County and Waterbury”;

  3. "Scrapbooking, 150 years of Art and Whimsy"; and

  4. "M is for Maria" (von Trapp). In addition, some of the previous exhibits at the Museum are slightly modified but still available.

Many people lingered to view the new exhibits, to talk with the museum's Directors and guest speaker, Michael Lazorchak, and to enjoy the coffee and donut refreshments. If you have a few hours a week, please consider joining our team!
